OSUN GROOVE

The Osun-Osogbo Grove is among the last of the sacred forests which usually adjoined the edges of most Yoruba cities before extensive urbanization. In recognition of its global significance and its cultural value, the Sacred Grove was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

This is the passage where the Virgin carrying the sacrifices on the day of the festival passes. The Osun Priests and Priestesses are the only set of people allowed to pass this entrance to the River.

This structure is the gate that was constructed by the founders of Osun groove, This is also the main entrance to grove. Every other Osun devotees are allowed to pass this entrance on the day of the Osun Osogbo Festival
